My mind turns automatically to the Kent State photograph when I hear Trump and his cult members discussing turning our military on us. We are on display for all the world to witness. Dumbing down the populace is going to have many unintended consequences. It’s up to us to save our country. Too much is at stake to shrug it off.

Awesome wake up call. Photojournalists must continue to push for their profession. I worked for newspapers and TV news in 70s and 80s, and they were valued members of the news team

How well I remember. Sundays at our house were filled with newspapers, and everyone read and commented. I remember those four photos and the tragic events they portrayed. The decline of newspapers and photojournalism is a major loss for all of us. Marc, great essay.
