Thanks for sharing this. As the time grows closer so does the anxiety. I voted and took my son since he wanted to vote also. And my friend a couple of days later. 💙🇺🇸🌊
Love this! I think my Father would say the same thing. He lived to see Trump voted in. My Dad who voted Republican his whole life did not vote for Trump in 2016. He passed away in 2017 and he was stunned that The Republican Party elected such an evil man to run our Country! I voted all Democrats this election. I am a registered Republican but I could not vote for Republicans that just ignored the insurrection on Jan 6.
Moving! Even though you present this as fictional, I believe it is by pretty much what many of our heroes would tell us, if b they could reach us from that other dimension. Really makes b you wonder what we could possibly say to our future generations, if we squander out gift of democracy, to an evil person who spreads lies and hatred, and allow our beautiful republic to pass into history.
My father fought in Europe. His spirit joins your father’s and the others of our veterans who paid with their blood on the battlefields around the world and through time. Beware! America survived the EvilOne once. Do not give him a second try.
Forbes wrote, after he lost in 2020, about how much debt he was in then. Add to it his criminal penalties, lawyers’ fees, lifestyle, costs of hangers-on looking to be fed and watered in the manner to which they are accustomed—ditto his wife, and whatever he owes to whomever in the Kremlin and other such dens of sin—AND likely jailtime—AND declining health affecting an already violent person—well, what a sum that totals up to be! No wonder he wants $10 billion in his latest frivolous lawsuit gambit. SMNH.
My father served in the Pacific Theater during WWII as well. He didn’t live to see this day, but he did see the first time Trump ran for president. He asked me “who in their right mind would vote for that clown?” He passed away in Oct of 2016, and at his funeral he had a military commital service. I was incredibly moved when the soldiers folded the flag and handed it to my older sister and told us the President of the United States thanks you for your father’s service. Since it was President Obama I believed them. We all know what TFG thinks of veterans. I think your point about strength is well taken too. Thank you for an insightful post.
Both of my grandfathers served in WWII. When I consider the potential outcomes of a red win this election cycle, I have thought often of what they and my grandmothers experienced - growing up through the Great Depression, then fighting for democracy through WWII - and how the republican party now is literally attempting to reverse those two events - reverse the outcome of WWII, so fascism would win and throw the entire economy into a depression potentially more severe than the one my grandparents lived through.
Your father’s words in this imagined conversation eloquently state so many essential truths about what we are facing now.
Two quotes that really stood out - “Strength is meaningless without principles guiding it.” & “A great leader should never put his own power above the people.”
In the world that we are living in now, I think it’s safe to say that we are in need of a leader who understands and embodies both of these principles. A leader whose voice comforts in confrontation and directs in times of stress. Thank you for sharing this piece! The artistic approach was heartfelt and very engaging. We thank your father for his service and continued words of wisdom.

I absolutely love your dialog posts, especially this one. My Pop would have appreciated your Dad. They were of a like mind. Thanks Marc.
Thanks for your comment, Peter. Writing it was a very emotional experience for me.

The lawsuit will be tossed fairly quickly. I guarantee it. (And I know about this stuff!)
Marc, Lovely….
